Iran is clearly concerned and affected by the Gaza operation, not because of its supposed affinity with Gaza and the Palestinian cause, as its propaganda consistently trying to sell us this fallacy, rather because of the affiliation of Hamas with the Iranian policy, interests and advantage in the region. This affiliation, unfortunately, changed the question of Hamas-dominated Gaza into a card for Iran in the negotiations with the western countries on the Iranian nuclear program issue.

Then, the coup by Hamas in Gaza to achieve the complete dominance by Hamas in the strip, kicking out the legitimate Palestinian Authority of the entire Gaza strip, was not a coincidence or a sudden aimless act. Rather, it was a part of a clear and deliberate strategy, which has basic regional extent and scope, or even, a foundation. Therefore, Iran is definitely present in the entire question of Gaza and the current situation there, especially in political terms.

Therefore, in dealing with the Gaza question, it is of extreme importance to examine the Iranian side of the entire Gaza operation or war and the comprehensive question of Gaza and Hamas in the light of the current incidents there. First of all, it should be clearly understood that the greater the affiliation between Hamas and Iran is, the greater is the loss of Iran in this regard, in the light of the massive Israeli operation in Gaza.

To read the political employment based on Iran’s regional strategy and interests, and predict the possible consequences of this massive operation on the Iranian side, we should preliminarily examine the Iranian reaction to this operation, and the direction of this reaction. In this regard, I assume that all concerned parties realize that in terms of Arab questions, Iran uses its Arab proxies primarily including Hezbullah and Hamas itself.

Here, it was some surprise in the first reactions and statements by Hamas along with Hezbullah that they targeted, first of all, Egypt, even before Israel somehow. It is really remarkable and strange that Hamas, under Israeli massive missiles destroying every single facility of its own in Gaza strip, was slamming and attacking Egypt in the very beginnings of the Israeli strikes. Furthermore, as exactly as Hamas, Hezbullah went the same way harshly attacking Egypt, but it went even further with inciting against the Egyptian government.

These reactions and positions have made the Iranian aggressive expansionist policy very clear leaving a little doubt about it. In addition, it shows further the affiliation of Hamas with Iran, and explains, in this regard, the latest series of positions and statements by Hamas against Egypt and its initiatives concerning the Palestinian reconciliation and normalization and ceasefire in Gaza. Finally, it shows how far and serious is the confrontation between Iran and Egypt as a counter-power to Iran’s expansion in the region, the confrontation that I predict just days ago.
