Iraq Victory: The International and Regional Strategic Nature

The situation in Iraq in terms of achieving victory there, in the strategic meaning, is something like the situation in Europe after the world war ΙΙ. What was done after the world war ΙΙ in Europe has a strategic resemblance to what is happening now in the Middle East and particularly in Iraq after 9/11. When Europe was geopolitically the heart of the world, the U.S. moved to Europe and fought there with ideas and forces to restore and maintain peace, stability and even prosperity.

Europe is no longer the heart of the world; the strategic center is moving eastward to the Middle East. The Middle East now is a key region to security, energy and world geopolitics besides a strategic location nearby the rising powers and future international centers, China and India.

Iraq should constitute a base for transforming the Middle East and eliminating the authoritarianism and totalitarianism with the democratic shine and the western support. Furthermore, Iraq is becoming the real base of changing the geopolitics of the region and replacing the old Middle East regional system with a new one, more modern, transparent, democratic and integrated with the world, ending the Cold War era and the late Soviet legacy in the region.

The war in Iraq is the war of the Middle East. It is a war of ideas and powers. The fearful Middle East totalitarian axis is fighting the United States and the world in Iraq as a symbol of fighting and intimidating the spreading free world after the Cold War to destroy the democratic perspective and to surround freedom in their countries.

The freedom and democracy in the Middle East is worthy of all the sacrifices that have been made, and it would eventually prevail. And the consequent new Middle East is a key factor in the process of development of the new world order, which would cope with the issues of world stability, security and progress. Then, we are facing a historic challenge and task, so we should apply a relevant and responsible approach. So, let us get our freedom dream in the Middle East a reality, which is turning into international objective and necessity.

A poll in Baghdad, Anbar, and Najaf on the invasion and its consequences. “About 90 percent of Iraqis feel the situation in the country was better before the U.S.-led invasion than it is today,” United Press International reported on the survey, which was conducted in November 2006 by the Baghdad-based Iraq Center for Research and Strategic Studies. “Nearly half of the respondents favored an immediate withdrawal of U.S.-led troops,” reported the Daily Star in Beirut, Lebanon. Another 20 percent favored a phased withdrawal starting right away. (A U.S. State Department poll, also ignored, found that two-thirds of Baghdadis want immediate withdrawal.)

YES...thumb up for the US forces in Iraq. they did a great deal to pacify the country...there is no violence reported for a long and is it not enough to make one believe that we won Iraq no matter what? but can't make it out what the ppl in the mideast are skeptic about...US never loses any war!! is that clear? is it?

Erick,
It is as clear as Vietnam.Even in the bare open desert of Iraq with a fraction of the population of Vietnam or -and over a million times more destructive power of those times- the US forces would prefer to redeploy out of Iraq! They have won the war and hearts of the Iraqi’s-and no only yesterday one on a joint patrol with his American buddies shot and killed two of them and wounded a half dozen others;knowing he too would end up dead.

Wake up man.Is this your defination of victory?

Killing people openly in the streets and stealing everything that the Iraqis have with them...forcing them to leave...if this is what you call as victory, yes US has won! without questioning....

"Europe is no longer the heart of the world; the strategic center is moving eastward to the Middle East. The Middle East now is a key region to security, energy... yes this is true and the bone of the contention. and they will remain so as long as there is oil and a drop of blood...the time they are left with none of these, perhaps the peace will come...s**T

This statement is incorrect.neither Europe nor mid-east is the strategic center of the immediate present.

The strategic prize and center is central Asia .It is encircled by mid-east,China,Russia,and Afghanistan/Pakistan...and USA is just getting positioned plumb in the middle of all this.
